Board-Certified Optometric Physician

Dr. Mills Helman received her doctorate from the Illinois College of Optometry. She is board certified for Pharmaceuticals and is a member of the American, Florida, and Central Florida Optometric Associations. The University of Florida graduate is also past president of the Broward Co. Optometric Association, and was recognized as its Optometrist of the Year. She also received the Bernard E. Vondnoy Orthoptics Award as well as the American Business Women’s Association Recognition Award.

 

Brian W. Jones, O.D.Brian W. Jones, O.D.

Board-Certified Optometric Physician

After receiving degrees from the University of Central Florida and the University of Houston College of Optometry, Dr. Jones has been providing eye care to the people of Central Florida for over twenty years. During this time, Dr. Jones has given lectures on cataracts, dry eye syndrome, ocular allergies, LASIK and PRK, and gave a television interview on intra ocular implants. He has been a clinical investigator for FDA trials of new ocular drugs and treatments, board examiner for the State of Florida Optometry Exam and has served as president and chairman for the Central Florida Society of Optometric Physicians. He has volunteered for the Coalition for the Homeless, Lions Club and served as Eye Care Team Leader for Hope Jamaica medical mission trip. Inducted into Consumer Research's Guide to America's Top Optometrists, voted Best New OD in the Southeast Region, he now leads the student intern program at Mid Florida Eye Center serving as Adjunct Faculty Clinical Instructor for the Illinois College of Optometry and the Southern California College of Optometry. 

 

Glenn D. Pieschke, O.D.Glenn D. Pieschke, O.D.

Board-Certified Optometric Physician

Dr. Pieschke received his undergraduate degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa and his doctorate from Southern College of Optometry, Memphis. He was the Chief Optometrist for the US Air Force Reserve 922th Rescue Wing at Patrick Air Force Base for the last 15 ½ years; a unit that was very active during Desert Storm, Desert Shield, Operation Iraqi Freedom, the Afganistan war, as well as humanitarian missions around the globe today. He has also been in private practices for more than 20 years.

 

Kim Patel, O.D.Kim Patel, O.D.

Board-Certified Optometric Physician

After completing her under graduate at University of Florida, she then graduated from the New England College of Optometry in Boston—where she earned the Rosanne LaBollita Best Clinician Award in 2012— Dr. Patel has been certified by both the Florida and Pennsylvania State Boards of Optometry. Her expertise spans a wide range of primary eye care including, ocular disease diagnosis and management, urgent care assessment and treatment, low vision therapies, specialty contact lenses fittings along with the management of post-operative care. She joins the Mid Florida Eye Center team with an innate passion to help others by providing the absolute best optometric care for our patients.

 Board Certified Optometrist Physician

Dr. Patel completed her undergraduate coursework with honors from the University of Miami and went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University. After completing her postgraduate residency in ocular disease at the University of Houston, she went on to work at the Emory Eye Center in Atlanta, Georgia where she primarily managed patients with ocular pathology, urgent eye care needs, and surgical co-management in addition to comprehensive eye care. 

Dr. Patel is eager to provide the best in patient-centered optometric care as part of the team at Mid Florida Eye Center.

Jack N. Shorr, O.D. 

Board Certified Optometrist Physician

Dr. Shorr, received his doctorate from Illinois College of Optometry, and completed internships at the Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind, and the Illinois Visually Handicapped Institute in Chicago. He is a member of the American and Florida Optometric Associations, and past president of the Mid-Florida Optometric Society. He is an adjunct professor at Illinois College of Optometry and was an original clinical investigator for the Toric contact lens.
